Baby's First Ultrasound at 4 Weeks

This week marks the beginning of the embryonic period. From now until ten weeks, all of my baby's organs will begin to develop and function. As a result, this is the time when he/she'll be the most vulnerable to anything that might interfere with her/his development. Right now my baby-to-be is an embryo consisting of two layers: the epiblast and the hypoblast, from which all her/his organs and body parts will develop. The primitive placenta is also made up of two layers at this point. Its cells are tunneling into the lining of my uterus, creating spaces for my blood to flow into so that the developed placenta can provide nutrients and oxygen to my growing baby when it starts to function at the end of this week. Also present now are the amniotic sac that will house my baby, the amniotic fluid that will cushion her/his as she/he grows, and the yolk sac that produces my baby's red blood cells and helps deliver nutrients to her/his until the placenta is ready to take over this duty.

Finding Out

Baby’s due date January 15,2005

I thought I might be pregnant because I wasn't feeling well especially at night, some of my friends told me that I might be pregnant, but still I didn't think of that be
cause I was told by my OB that I have to undergo some fertility work ups because of my Polycystic Ovary and Hyperprolactin. Although, my maternal instincts is telling me that possibly I’m pregnant, so when we visit a doctor due to my fever I told her to give me some medicines that won't affect my body since I’m preparing to get pregnant, in that same day, I found out that I’m pregnant.

Oh how I felt when the pregnancy was confirmed! When we arrived at the hospital, we had mixed emotions, we want to hold our excitement until we’re sure that it’s true but if you happen to see us at that time, our face showed how happy we were. Miracles do happen. I’m 6 weeks pregnant. I was crying the whole time while the doctor was showing us our first ultrasound with the baby, it’s a gift from heaven.

Who was with me at the time? Who else??? My husband! He was there all the time and I’m so grateful to him.

My Pregrancy Journal

May 27,2004 @ 5PM (Thursday)

I went out with Brenda and Agnes at Central Chitlom to do some shopping since I was scheduled to leave Bangkok on Sunday. Brenda was doing her Baby shopping and we were helping her. After shopping, they convinced me to buy a Home Pregnancy Test just to make sure and for me to stop thinking. When we arrived at our place between 4 and 5 p.m., I informed them that if I shouted it means I'm pregnant, if not then I'm not.

I went to our bathroom and stayed seated on our bowl for a while, I wasn’t thinking of the positive result at all, since I know I was not ovulating. I freaked out when I saw the result. As in FREAKED OUT!!!! I CAN’T EVEN SHOUT!!!! I heard Agnes saying something like why I didn’t shout, when I went out of the bathroom I wasn't really sure if it's true. I was speechless, I was crying then. I immediately called my husband to inform him about the result. I know he was happy but then again he wants to make sure. I was crying to him. We both didn’t expect it since we were advised to go back to our OB for fertility work-ups. We are so happy and blessed to have it done naturally.

May 29,2004 (Saturday)

Our life has changed right after we found out that we’re pregnant. Now, I have to take care of myself (more), have to eat right and on time for the baby, limit the stress in my life.

We went to Central Chitlom to buy some maternity bras and panties at Marks & Spencer, and then we went to Asia Books at Siam Discovery to buy a book for our baby. I bought our first Baby Journal and What to Expect When You’re Expecting.

May 30,2004 (Sunday)

Sunday, I woke up early feeling hungry and started cooking our lunch. We had “Sinigang na Baka” yummy!!! After lunch I started reading the book that I bought and slept around 3PM. I woke up around 4:30PM and took a bath. We went to the church, offered a thanksgiving mass for next week and thank God over and over again. We were home around 6:30PM I ate my dinner while Archie’s watching the F1 race.

Up...Up... and Away!

The Abyss (Turbo Drop) at Ocean Park is the newest addition, total height is 185 feet (20 floors).
It was awesome! We tried it twice, at first I was scared but was able to deal with my fear so when we tried the first time and had fun, we did it again. The second time was ok but I wasn't feeling well after that, so we rested for awhile and had lunch.
Unfortunately, we have to go back to the hotel since we were planning to go to Kowloon side, we spent about only 6 hours in Ocean Park.
