In other news:
Rein's birthday is tomorrow and we are off today to buy a present for her. She's actually overwhelmed with the Christmas gifts she received and she has no specific birthday request. She got everything on her christmas wishlist and when I asked her yesterday what she wanted, she just said a new bracelet. We'll have buffet lunch at Chef Mickey to celebrate. She wants to go to Disneyland again, probably she thinks it's just a regular park that you can go anytime you like :) But with my condition now at 33 weeks, it would be very uncomfortable for me.
Update on my pregnancy:
We went to my OB yesterday for routine check-up and NST. The baby is getting bigger, the result of NST is ok. We'll be back after 2 weeks for another NST and on Friday I have another appoitment with my Endoc. I know she'll be a bit disappointed with my sugar level due to the holidays.

Hi peeps!!!

Last Friday hubby and I went to St. Luke's International Hospital for a thorough ultrasound of our Lil Munchkin. I decided to bring my ipod to keep my sanity. I left Rein with my mom since it would take a long time and I know she'll get bored and the weather is getting colder. The results were ok! The doctor checked her head circumference, showed us her face, body, hands and feet. From the ultrasound it looks like his physical features were fine. The weight is around 300 grams which is perfect for his age. He was moving and kicking during the sonogram and decided to switch his position several times. The doctor tried to determine the gender and she said it's 80% boy. We'll be back on the 14th for our regular check-up and ultrasound and I am scheduled for another round of complete ultrasound on my 30th week. I really appreciate all the prayers and support. I'm so happy to have you all and you are making me strong with every words of encouragement you've said. I know that I should enjoy my pregnancy, but this thing is killing me. Don't get me wrong, I love every bit of it, I'm just scared and probably wonder what could be wrong. I stopped browsing the web about my situation to ease the anxiety.

BTW, All our favorite tv series are running again - Desperate Housewives, Amazing Race, Heroes, Prison Break and Dirty Sexy Money plus post-season MLB.

I was contacted by another publishing company for my pages and I have a very exciting news for November. I was elated when I received the email and told hubby about it. It is still a secret but I'll let you know once it's finalized, it will be posted by November. Last weekend, I scrapped like mad and managed to create several pages. Hi everyone!

It's been a loooong time. Finally got the chance to update my lil blog. A lot of things has been happening on my side of the world. Our lil munchkin is almost 18 weeks already. We've been going to the hospital for check-ups with my endoc and OB at least once every couple of weeks. On our last ultrasound, my OB told us that we will have an elective ultrasound on October 3 for a more comprehensive look at our baby. This is killing me since I have to wait for 2 more weeks and it feels like torture for me. They'll check baby for any defects or abnormalities. I'm hoping and praying that he/she is normal and healthy.

I just had a bad dream last night about my baby. I'm being paranoid and really pessimistic, I just won't be able to forgive myself if something is wrong especially because I am to blame. Please, please include us in your prayers :) My endoc added new oral meds for me. I went back and told her that I get dizzy and get tired easily, she said it's normal since the meds are helping me normalize my blood sugar. Right now, I'm still taking insulin shots 3X/day at 8 units each before meal and she adjusted my 12 units before bedtime to 8 units since I'm taking the oral meds. She said that I need a lot of rest and should not stress myself too much.

By the way, we witnessed a rather sad thing about a couple of weeks ago. When I was removing the clothes that were hanged at the veranda and Rein was watering the plants, she saw a woman who jumped off a building right across from ours. She was about 50 yrs old or so. I didn't see the exact fall but Rein said "fall down mama". When I saw her she was already on the street and a little later an ambulance came. Rein asked me "why?". I just told her she has a superpower and wings and she'll be okay. So we got inside for her not to see the police and the people there. It was devastating and I just said a short prayer for her. I wonder why she would do that.

My mom is back, Yipee!!! She got here last Thursday, she got delayed at the airport and the immigration officer called me to ask a lot of questions. This is because she just left Japan last August and came back just after a month. The officer told us that within a given calendar year, she couldn't stay longer in Japan than in her home country. And by now she has spent 7 of the last 9 months here in Japan but they understood my circumstance and said it's okay.

On Digi scrappin':

I got emails from several scrapbooking magazines (for print) that they are interested on my pages. I haven't told the designers about it yet, I know they will be delighted. I'm so happy that they want to publish my work, haven't really been active in digiland lately and this made me smile.

On July Cover and Update

First of all, I want to thank everyone for your continued prayers and concerns . Last week, Thursday night, I was rushed to the hospital due to spotting. The doctor performed cervical ultrasound and we were relieved that the baby is ok. I was given Duvadilan to be taken 3X/day for 1 week. Yesterday, I visited my new OB and checked our baby, who is 8 weeks already, and everything is ok, except for night sickness which is really HARD! I always vomit and my sugar level goes down at 73. Can't eat and my stomach goes upside down.

My mom will be going back to Manila on Aug 3, we asked her to come back as soon as possible. Rein is really excited with our new baby, she's really sweet and very concerned about the baby. She always kisses my tummy and talks to the baby when she wakes up and before going to bed. When she hears us talking out loud, she'll say "ssshhh quiet, the baby is sleeping". She's always excited to see the baby during the ultrasound and would always hold the print out and kiss it. She also started including our baby in her prayers which is so touching.

Update

Last Monday, we saw another OB-GYN and I had another HCG test. The result shows that my HCG level is still increasing at 900+, which means that the pregnancy is progressing. The doctor performed an ultrasound but she still can't see the baby. The doctor said that it's because it's too early at 900 HCG, we may have to wait until it reaches 2,000 before we can our baby.

I have a scheduled apppointment again with the first OB on Friday and hopefully we'll see our baby at that time. My Endocrinologist will also check if she needs to increase my insulin intake. Since I took the insulin, my measurements range from 208 to 289 mg/dL, which is still high. We are hoping that we were able to lower the risk to our baby by me taking the insulin right away and the baby being still less than 4 weeks old.

We also consulted hubby's cousin who is an OB-GYN and she said she had several patients with the same case as mine and they continued the pregnancy with very close monitoring and babies turned out fine. She also told us that her own sister who lives in the U.S. was also told by her doctors to terminate the pregnancy due to some risks but she went on with it and her little girl is now 3 years old and very healthy.

Thanks for all your prayers and support. Please continue to join me in praying that my baby will be healthy and free from any serious complications. I will do my best to be in good shape from now on and hope that it will be enough to protect my child.

a lil update and prayers needed

We found out that I'm pregnant early this week. We searched for a hospital with english speaking doctors and found one at St. Luke's International. They performed a series of blood tests as well as an ultrasound. During the ultrasound, the doctor said she cannot see the gestational sac but the ovaries are okay. So they still cannot determine how old our baby is and she asked us to go back on Monday for another test to see if the hormone levels (HCG) are still increasing. She said there are 3 possibilities for now: normal pregnancy, ectopic and miscarriage.

I was then asked to see the internal med doctor to look at my blood sugar. The endocrinologist said that my blood sugar is sooo high (around 314, normal is around 100) and that the HBA1C is more than 10% (normal is 4). So she told us that if the baby is indeed 4 to 5 weeks old, there is a very high risk of malformation or abnormalities in the baby's organs. This was repeated by our OBGYN showing us a chart that there is more than a 20% chance that the baby will suffer from the effects of the mother's high blood sugar. The internal med doctor said that she cannot allow me to have this baby so she recommended that we terminate the pregnancy. She already gave me insulin (Novo-rapid Flexpen) to take 3 times a day.

Please bear with me if I haven't been active lately. This is kinda hard for our lil family. I'm asking for prayers and hoping for a miracle that I may continue my pregnancy and that the baby is not affected much.

Has anyone here encountered the same situation as mine?

Hi Peeps!

Yep! This is me and I know it's been a loong time. I've got a lot things to update you with specially since my Mom is here. So many things happened the past months. We had a blast when we were in the Philippines as well as a lot of wonderful things/good news on my hobbies. We've been so busy and my Mom is enjoying her stay here as usual. I tell you, Rein is kinda getting spoiled when she's around and I guess I am too. I'm also happy for hubby for the good results he is getting from his hobby. We are hoping for more paychecks... Yipee!!!! More to come...

We were able to watch Incognito Live at the Blue Note Jazz Club last February. Really had a great time with hubby as we celebrate V-day immersed in good funky jazz music. The only thing that I hated was my migraine attack that day. Thanfully though, I managed to enjoy the show even though I was a bit uncomfortable. We also visited some tourist spots here since with Mom. We are planning for Golden week, just don't know where to go as usual because all interesting places around will be crowded.

About my Lil girl "Rein", you'll be amazed when you see her. She's really smart and knows almost everything a pre-schooler would know. She can count 1-100, knows all the colors and letters of the alphabet, can spell her name including mama and papa. She understands our questions and knows how to answer them correctly. I am truly amazed. My mom even told me that she's smarter than me. hehehe

I really hope that my Mom's visa will be extended or else she'll go home first week of May. I actually don't want her to go as she'll get hurt with the situations my siblings are going through with right now. And I fear that it might give her a heart attack if she gets too involved with all the problems between my 2 brothers right now. I don't know why it's happening to us and we are all affected.

On Scrapping:

It's really true that 8 is my favorite number and since it's 2008, I got 8 layouts for publication and was contacted by Artisan Notebook for one of my page and another two pages for Somerset Memories. I'll be working with The Digichick as their Creative Artist. Such a great honor as TDC has been my home ever since I started my hobby.

Also, I'm one of the creative artists for Cinnamon Desings. You have to check their site, really it's beauutiful stuff!!! I am loving the designers that I'm working with. They really have gorgeous stuff and easy to scrap too. On Photography, I just purchased things that I need for my macro photography, watch out for some samples. :)

My beautiful li'l girl

Hi everyone!!!! Sorry for not updating my blog. I'm super duper busy with a lot of things and I wish I can stay awake the whole day. I slept around 6am today to submit the requirements needed for one of my publication :), I made a thorough step by step procedure for the said layout. I have soo many things to do and honestly I still have unfinished projects and photography stuff.

We are going home for the holidays, Yep! Rein and the rest of the family are super happy that we are celebrating the holidays with them. I haven't packed our things yet and for some of you who have known me, you'll know that I'm kinda OC when it comes to traveling as I have lists of things to do, bring and I always organize everything that we should be doing. Relax....Relax.... I always hear that from hubby.

We are leaving on Thursday via JAL and we'll be back next year. Archie and Rein will celebrate their birthdays in Manila with our family. Hubby really wanted to celebrate it at Emerald Chinese Restaurant. We'll also squeeze into our schedule a buffet lunch at Circles in Shangri-la Makati. Gosh, I have a lot of restos in mind and I could only wish that my blood sugar will not shoot up much, as it normally does especially this time of the year. I am going to meet old friends and officemates and I'm going to miss my closest cousin Lisa who will be going to Los Angeles, California on Dec. 24. I don't know If I'm going to see her in the next two years, good thing we had fun when she visited us here in Tokyo.

Some Good News and Bad News

Hi peeps!

How was your week? Mine is not that good. My mom left yesterday for Manila after a 3 month stay with us. She's happy that she'll be able to attend my Grandma's 80th Birthday which will be held in Manila. Only two of my aunties, one is in the U.S. and the other in Japan, couldn't make it but they sent video clips for their greetings. We also sent our video greeting plus some of my cousins based in London.

It's been a LOOONG TIME!

Hi peeps!

It's been a loooong time since I last added a post in my neglected blog. Life is a bit hectic on my side of the world. A lot of things happened the past weeks. I have been very busy preparing for my Grandma's 80th Birthday. She'll be celebrating her Birthday in the Philippines and will drop by Tokyo for a week on their way back to the States.

I am thankful that my SIL helped me out with this, and now everything is set. I made her invites for the party which will be held in my Uncle's Condo (Clubhouse). My Aunties and Uncles will be arriving too. My uncle offered a free ticket for me so I could join them. I asked Rein if I could fly to Manila and leave her with my Mom and she replied with an emphatic "NO", Mama-Stay!

My niece will also celebrate her 7th Birthday next week. Her party theme is Princess Jasmine. I also made her invites and another one for a friend who will be having a baby shower for her sister.

My Brother passed the Nursing Board Exam and we'll be having his oath taking tomorrow at the Araneta Coliseum. I am really proud of him!

We are planning to spend our Christmas vacation in the Philippines and Rein is super excited to be with our family once again.

On Scrapping News:

Anytime this week, I will be getting 2 magazines (different companies) with Rein's Layouts. I got 4 publications. Another good news is I was contacted by Digital Scrapbook Magazine and one of my pages will be for publication early next year. Sooo happy!!!!

I have some more good news to come. :)

Updates Galore!

Hi peeps,

I know it's been a while since my last post. I have been very busy lately. We all got sick with the flu at one time and my mom arrived from Manila. Last Saturday, I really had a great time watching a musical play entitled "Hairspray" at the Bunkamura Theater in Shibuya with Karen. We both had a blast! I missed watching musicals. I wish we could watch it over and over again. We had dinner and chat for several hours. We called it a night at around 11pm and I reached home before midnight. There's a movie about Hairspray too, check it out at Hair Spray

We attended Sunday mass yesterday and it was so HOT outside! We had lunch at Bubba Gump, it's been awhile since we visited the place and I was craving for Shrimp. We didn't stay that long at Tokyo Dome cause I just can't stand the heat. It's like I could collapse at anytime, plus my sugar is quite high at 300 (fasting).

My mom will be celebrating her birthday this coming Thursday and I told her we will celebrate it everyday starting yesterday. I plan to do some special meals for her and on her birthday, we will celebrate it at a Yakiniku house in Akihabara.

On Scrapping world:

I just got an invitation from Andrea to join the Digital Artist Magazine last August 3 and some invitations from other designers. I am happy to work with Nancy, Sylvie and Jenn for August. Ohhh..... I have a layout that was selected for publication this coming November. SBB asked me about one of my pages for their August Ezine as well. I'm so happy about these.

Bloggin' Again...

Ohh... My poor neglected blog. I haven't been around for quite sometime. Busy, busy, busy.... My mom went back to Manila last March 9 and before that we were sooo busy visiting some kewl places here.

About Rein, she's really growing up soo fast. We always spend time at the Park because she loves to play on the slide, swing and play ball on the open field. She still adores Elmo but appreciates Blues Clues and loves Dora the Explorer. Her hair is finally getting longer.

Weather is soo unpredictable. There were times it's not soo cold and nights that were soo cold. Anyways, we are all waiting for spring. Yehey!!!

Karen and her kiddo visited us yesterday. We had fun so did Rein and Aidan. I cooked a Filipino dish "Nilagang Baka". We also discussed about our plans for Cherry Blossom.

Hubby's family will be coming sometime this April together with his niece and nephew. It will be a fun time for us especially for Rein.

Some updates in my Scrap World:

I'm soo happy with the things happening right now.

1.I was a featured Scrapper at DST last January.
2.My layouts were chosen at Digichick for the Scraplift Challenge last February.
3.I was a guest CT for Miss Hunibuni and Joana Carvalho last February and March.
3.I received a sweet email from Corina and was back in her arms again, after months of vacation in the Philippines.
4.Working with Scrap Girls as DT Team, Sandra, Sugar Giggles and Scrap kitchen, in addition to Fee, Corina and Marcie.
5.One of my page (You are my shining Star) was a featured page at MM (last March 27).
6.Five of my layouts will be published (2 of them weren't even posted on the galleries).
7. Rocking Guest CT gig with Gina Miller this April (YEHEY!!!).
8. May, June and July- for another AWESOME GUEST CT gig, I adore them!!! I'm soo happy and couldn't wait. They are AMAZING and really FAMOUS designers like my former Guest CT gigs.
9. My "a Child" layout will be included in one of the articles at SBB Ezine for June. Brenda told me it's perfect for Father's Day.
10. I got an email today that 3 of my layouts will be featured for May, June and July.
11. NicoleV is amazing!!! You have to check her Photo Actions at www.actions.nicoleV.com I'm sooo happy promoting her Photo Actions. It's all kewl! Thanks for trusting me. :)

I love the designers that i work with (Corina, Fee, Marcie, Sandra, Summer, Susan of Scrapkitchen and Scrap Girls DT). And, also the designers i worked with as their Guest CT, Joan and Dawn, and of course, who wouldn't love Gina Miller- She's such a sweet gal. I saw her comments on my pages...really sweet :)

I'm so grateful and truly happy. I really hope i could always update my blog. Even once a week, since we'll be busy for sure for the arrival of my husband's family.

Bad Blogger!!!

Hi fellas!

I'm such a bad blogger.

I know its been 1 month or so since this poor blog has been updated. I remember when it was hijacked not so long ago and I asked the wonderful people from Blogger to help me bring it back. And after a month it was finally up. But then I haven't done anything good with it.

Anyways, Life is quite busy right now. A lot of things have been going on and I really love it. I am finally back in touch with scrapping, though I must admit that i've been soo out of the loop for a very long time. And i can see that so much has changed in the digi world. Finally, i was able to make a couple of LOs for my fabulous desingers. I'm very happy with them.

What else? Hmmm.... Our Christmas vacation in Manila was superb. Really had a great time with family and friends. We also celebrated hubby and Rein's bday at Jollibee. Hubby was actually more excited than Rein. Who would thought that he'll celebrate it at that place at his age. Well, it was a blast!

We are still waiting for snow here in Tokyo and we haven't heard of any updates as to when. I would love to take a picture of Rein playing in the snow. Am i weird? :)

We're going home

Hi peeps!

I'm kinda busy this week preparing our stuff as well as for my mom's VISA, Yes! My mom will be joining us here for a while. We are leaving early next week. Hubby's telling me not to be too much of a perfectionist with this trip cause I have a tendency to get disappointed when vacation plans don't go well. Being an OC, I can't help but write everything that we will be needing and organize our itinerary as early as now. I will be sending an email to the designers I work with that I will be on leave.

I have told some of my friends and former officemates. I miss them and we plan to have lunch or dinner or probably a night out. We have a lot of catching up to do.

I also prepared some invites for my Mom's surprise Bday Party and I already sent an email to her friends. Thank goodness for technology, I don't have to look for her college friends.

I will also prepare a Baby Shower for my SIL (Sister in-law).

Pamper myself with massage from head to toe. I wish hubby's with me, he needs it more than I do.

A trip to Tagaytay highlands with my family and stroll around Tagaytay.

Attend my cousin's debut at the Manila Hotel. She was born and raised in the US, but wanted to celebrate it with relatives in the Philippines, so she gets the chance to know them.

Bonding with Rein's cousins, Miles and Nina, Hubby's favorite nephew and niece. And from my side, with Charles.

Some personal things to do.

I''ll find time to scrap and leave some love to my fellow scrappers, surely i'll have lots of pictures to scrap.

Some Updates....

First, I would like to thank all of you for your concern over my migraine thingy. And for those who sent private emails, I was deeply touched, thanks! Hopefully it won't happen again. Kisses to all of you.

Last Saturday, we celebrated Rein's mini debut, she turned 18th months old. We had dinner Friday night at Bella Bella Restaurant, a truely authentic Italian resto {their lasagna is to die for}. We went to Tokyo Sea Life Park on Saturday afternoon. It was unplanned so we forgot to bring the video cam. We left after lunch and I brought my meds for migraine in case I'll have another attack. Everything went smoothly.

This week, I was busy preparing for our trip back home. Rein and I will be flying to Manila, since my Mom will be there and most of my relatives from the US too. My cousin Ella will celebrate her 18th Birthday at the Manila Hotel. I will be using hubby's NW worldperks miles. I'll keep you posted on this.

We were supposed to go to Premium Outlet today, but hubby can't walk too much, he has a problem with his left ankle although he visited the doctor already, still he feels some pain. We decided to postpone it and wait for my mom who will be coming with me when we come back here. We plan to visit Mt. Fuji as well. Hopefully, everything goes well.

Rein is having fun playing games on our laptop, she loves Sesame Street ones especially Elmo's. That leaves me without a computer to create layouts and visit scrap sites. When she's done playing, she would go to the couch and ask me to read with her. Oftentimes she wants to go out, even though she feels the sweltering summer heat. By the time we get back, we're both exhausted but then I'll have to prepare our dinner, put her to bed and guess what???? Even if I ask my hubby to wake me up so I could do my stuff, I couldn't get out of bed.

Today, we went out although the weather was unpredictable.

Another Migraine Attack

This morning, I had a severe Migraine attack. I was done uploading my layout entitled "Precious Baby Girl" at scrap sites and left some praises for other scrappers, done with some household chores, when I felt the pain. It was different from the usual migraine that I've had. I shivered, vomited more than thrice, my head turned upside down. I was soo helpless, my hands were shaking when I tried to give Rein some food.

I called hubby, he was having lunch at that time and I told him that I can't handle Rein. I let her play when I was lying on the bed but saw her pull the chair and put back some plates in the sink. I really can't handle her at that time. I went on and off to the toilet.

Finally, hubby arrived and we rushed to the hospital. I was given some meds. This has been my problem eversince, especially during Summer time. I feel alot better now, I slept when we got back and woke up before 8PM.

Hubby's asking me, how does it feel to suffer from migraine attacks? I told him, he's lucky he doesn't have it because it's really such a burden.

Two nights of Spicy Thai Food Dinner

Last Friday and Saturday night, we had a Sumptuous Spicy Thai food dinner. Yep! It was sooo yummy. Since Friday was payday, we decided to have dinner at Tinun's Thai Restaurant. Rein had her dinner at a Japanese Restaurant before I proceeded to Tinun's. Hubby came from the office and we met at the restaurant. Last Saturday, we met Karen and her family. I met Karen through an online community for married couples. She was with her mom, hubby and her super cutie son named Aidan. We plan to meet again sometime this week. I wish she lives near our place.

The place was full, we waited for at least 10 mins.. I love the ambiance and the food is sooo yummy. We could never go wrong with our orders. Last week I had Tom Yam Gung {Shrimp}. The price is quite expensive, especially if you once lived in Bangkok and know how much it costs there. Oooopppss... When we were still in Bangkok, a Tom Yam Gung would only cost you around less than $2 from a delivery service. Here it's 1,000 Yen about $9.00 Whew!!!! But it's all worth it.

We ordered Thai Vermicelli salad, Fried Rice with Shrimp Paste, Fried Rice with Pork, Thai-style Sausage and Deep Fried Chicken Skin.

Yesterday it was raining when we left the house. We had a late lunch at Denny's. We planned to go to Takashimaya but the weather was so unpredictable, it was raining on and off, so we decided to go home instead. And besides, Rein was sleepy already.

I'm soo addicted to Thai food this week so I decided to cook some. We had Minced Pork with Holy Basil and Thai-style Omelet.

What else is happening?

I emailed Rein's Preschool and she's set to go on September, when she's 20 months old. We will be having a trial next Monday. I have to confirm and ask for another schedule since the time given to us is 10am, which means we have to leave around 9am during rush hour and on a Monday.

We are a bit disappointed that Brazil lost the game with France. But I'm still happy coz Italy, Germany and France are in. It was a super sports Sunday for hubby: Tour de France, Formula 1, Boxing and World Cup. Too bad we can't watch the upcoming World Pool Champioships…hubby’s so disappointed.

Father's Day Celeb and Some Updates

I tried to make a reservation at the Disney Ambassador Hotel for a buffet lunch, unfortunately it was fully booked already. Take note that I called 1 week before. The only slot available was 9PM, who the hell would eat a buffet at that time? So, we opted to have lunch again at Outback, where we celebrated Mother's day but this time we went to Shinagawa.

Rein gave her gift at 12 midnight. She was soo cooperative, I was telling her to wait until 12 and when she saw the gift, she was quite excited to give it to her Papa. When the clock stroke 12, Hubby was on the bathroom doing his routine shaving, Rein went to him and gave the gift. Of course, Hubby was surprised since he didn't think that we would have something for him. He tried it on (it was a nice EB shirt, by the way) and it fit perfectly.

Back to our lunch at Outback, when we arrived at Outback Shinagawa at around 12:30 PM, it was closed. Yeah! We were all hungry coz we didn't eat breakfast. It was raining the whole day. We really wanted to eat there so we waited. We went to Nathan's instead for their famous Hotdogs, stayed there for a while, then strolled along....

Around 4PM, we returned to Outback. Rein was asleep at that time. We had the usual order, Aussie fries, Calamari, Hubby had Prime Rib Steak and I had Sirloin Steak, Rein had the spaghetti. It was fun, although the rain didn't stop until we got home.

Some updates:

I had a severe migraine this week, can't stay long at the computer and can’t create a layout. I feel like throwing up all the time. Already took the meds, still had it. It's so frustrating, can't play with Rein, can't go out and I always kept the curtains closed. But I'm doing ok now. Summer is fast approaching and that's probably the reason since it's getting hot and humid now. Hubby's quite busy watching the World Cup, I would love to see Japan go to the Final round. Although, it's impossible the way I saw them play with Australia. My bet??? Any team from Europe. Hubby loves Brazil soo much that he woke up at 4 am to watch the game. My bet goes to France, Germany and England. The other night, hubby and I were discussing about the thing that I'm doing. It took us about an hour to finish the work.

Great day at the Disney Ambassador Hotel

Rein and I were out yesterday with my cousin Michiko and her son. We met at Nishi-Funabashi station and then proceeded to Ikspiari, a part of Disney Resort. Rein was a little aloof since it's been a long time since she saw them. We made an early reservation for a lunch buffet at CHEF MICKEY at the Disney Ambassador Hotel. It was actually a late lunch since we got in at around 2 pm. So we stayed at the lobby and let Rein and Ryoma play with each other. Rein was sleepy already, so she was a bit quiet.

When our time came, we had a sumptuous lunch. Food is great, loved the dessert. The ambiance is perfect. Of course, the Disney characters were present and were table hopping. Rein was scared, probably because she was sleepy already and they were trying to get Rein to play with them. We left past 4, not really sure because we were busy chitchatting and eating.

Just a note: I told hubby that I will go back to SBD diet this June. What a day to start a diet! hehehe... I was soo full up to now.

Tiring

Yesterday was THE most tiring day for me. Rein and I went to her Pedia to check on her skin allergies and I also needed to buy Sebamed lotion for her. Our plan is to visit her Pedia, then go to Hokenjo for her 2nd round of Polio vaccine. But it was changed since she haven't taken the Chickenpox vaccine yet which is more important this season. She took the vaccine and I asked if she could get a blood test to find out what food is causing her allergy. Rein was already crying from the moment they checked on her weight and height. I feel that she's traumatized already.

They took Rein from me and placed her in a room to get her blood. I could hear her crying and I immediately followed them. Rein was calling me and she was binded with a towel and a fish-net like thing {I don't know what they call it} to restrain her. I couldn't resist crying when I saw her and I didn't imagine that they will take a lot of blood from her.

When it was finally over, I carried her to the Pharmacy. She didn't want to sit-down on her stroller. We went to the grocery for our 1 week food supply. After that we went home. I was carrying her the whole time. From the Supermarket to our house it took us more than 15 minutes of walking. It should be less than 10 mins. but since I was carrying her and moving the stroller, it took us much longer.

When we got home, my hands and legs were shaking. Rein is kinda heavy already plus I was moving a stroller with grocery items.

I've been very busy this past weeks, so I couldn't update my blog. Aside from the work I'm doing, I'm busy with Rein. We're doing a lot of activities.

Mother's Day Celebration {late post}

Last Friday, May 12. I had a Pre-Mother's Day Celebration with Rein. We had a late lunch at Denny's where we ordered our favorite dish and dessert. I just love "Mango with Milk Pudding", the Mango came from the Philippines and it'soo yummy. After lunch we went to her Pedia. I asked them to translate the date for Rein's Polio Vaccine. We then proceeded to Sunstreet where she played with other kids. She just loves it and you would see how happy she was with the kids, especially when she's playing on the slide.

Saturday, we didn't go out, weather was kinda bad so we stayed home. I prepared our favorite brunch "bacon, egg and fried rice". The whole day was spent with Rein, playing, reading and doing our things once in a while. TFC was on air for the Golden Week so we had a chance to watch some Pinoy shows and movies.

Around 1 am, I joined the Chat with Valerie at TDC and joined some challenges for NSD and Mother's day Celebrations. One of my favorites was the Treasure Hunting. I couldn't believe that I slept past 6 am, I also sent the e-card that I created for my friends and colleagues in Scrap World.

Sunday came. Hubby and Rein greeted me. Hubby did the planning, of course, since it's Mother's day. We had lunch at Outback in Chiba. It was a different experience when we were on our way coz we usually go to Shinjuku or some place with lotsa people. We were not familiar with the place, so hubby had a printed map. We walked for more than 10 mins. While walking, we both had a feeling that we were going to a town fiesta because of the houses that we passed by. We were laughing all the time, I had a feeling that we were going to a church and passing small streets, same thing if you were attending a fiesta in the Philippines.

Hubby was vindicated when we saw the mall. It's actually not what I expected. It's big and perfect for Rein. There was no queue so we had lunch past 12 noon. My favorite Bushmushroom is not available in any Outback in Japan. So we ordered Aussie fries and Calamari for appetizer. Of course, we requested for our favorite honey bread. We ordered Pasta for Rein. Hubby ordered Baby back Ribs and I ordered Ribeye Steak. Speaking of Steak, I miss New York Steak House at the Marriott Hotel, Bangkok. Their Angus Beef Steak is to die for. Anways, back to our orders, we planned on having a dessert since their signature dessert is the Thunder from Downunder Chocolate Brownie.

What did we talk about during lunch? Our life when we were still boyfriend and girlfriend. How happy we were at Dos Palmas where we did Scuba diving together, kayaking, snorkling, biking and lots of eating. It was my second time at the same place, the first one I did when I was still single and soul-searching. We'll definitely go back there.

It's so nice to reminisce all the wonderful things, you've done together.

What else did we talk about? Hmmm... Our Honeymoon... That Bali was overrated, we stayed at the The Intercontinental. The hotel is really nice, epecially the room. But the beach is just ok. What I really love, although I was scared to death when I went overboard, was our rafting trip. We also did parasailing and jet skiing. It was a superb experience. Hubby fell from the jet ski and when we arrived at Singapore, he was still in pain. Also talked about our 3 years honeymoon period in Bangkok. We were so glad that we were able to spend time together before our baby came last year. We really enjoyed being together. Our trips out of the country were superb. My first time to watch Formula 1 at Malaysia and my first ever Reversed Bungee in Singapore. I vomited after that by the way . The last one that I won't ever forget is the Turbo Drop, which we did twice, at Ocean Park Hong Kong. I didn't realize that I'm pregnant already at that time. Good thing Rein is soo strong.

I won't keep you from reading this kinda long, reminiscing story of us. It's just fun to remember things you both enjoy. Of course, there are so many things that we still want to do. I'll keep you posted when we do that. I just love to look back and can't hide the smile and glow in my face.

Weather is bad today. Rein is getting better.

I've seen how disappointed Chris was by the look in his eyes. Can you believe I'm talking about it again. I'm still on the denial stage. My vote goes to Taylor and Elliot. Taylor has the strongest vote so far.

On The Amazing Race, I'm soo happy that team MoJo was finally eliminated. So it will be a battle between the Hippies, Frat Boys and Ray & Yolanda. The last race was from Aussie to Bangkok. Gosh! I miss Bangkok, again! I've seen familiar places that I used to go to when we were there. Again, it made me sad.

On Lost. They found another hatch, Libby died, though she said the word Michael. I just hope they figure it out and dig deeper. As always, they left us wondering what's gonna happen next.

That's it for now, I talked too much today. Today's weather forecast is Cloudy, I really hope to go out with Rein, if the weather permits.

Shocking News

Although I haven't watched the result of American Idol yet. I read on the abc news site that CHRIS DAUGHTRY was ousted for the "Final 3" competition. I was really, really shocked!! Actually I called hubby, even though he doesn't want to know the result, I told him already and I was about to burst into tears, Yeah! I adore his voice soo much. I just don't understand why he got the least number of votes. How could it be??? I think it's not fair. Obviously, he was caught off guard. No one would think he'll be the one to be voted off, everybody thinks he's a shoe-in for the Finals. I thought it would be Katharine since she didn't perform well.

I will download the result tonight, FOX here is kinda late in telecast.

I'm soo disappointed. Could someone be manipulating the result? The so-called "mafia" style.

Anyways, good for Chris, he can start his 1st solo album right away and I will get a copy of it.

That's it for now, weather is not good today. I think it will last until next week. Have to go back to my work.

What's new with me?

Wow! My last post was April 18 and today is May 9 already. It's been a while and I seldom visit my blog. I’ve been very, very busy that I couldn't update my blog. Last week, Japan celebrated Golden Week. It was a long holiday (3 working days). We went out almost everyday and Rein had soo much fun outside. The only downside was that it's soo expensive to go out. Anyways, we enjoyed it soo much.

I'm so happy with these new things that I'm doing, though sometimes I'm overwhelmed but still it's a new adventure for me. Hubby's helping me and he's very supportive. I'm thinking of ways to help him and I wish I could just push myself to the limit. If I could just absorb everything in one click and be a superwoman.

On Digital Scrapworld, I resigned again from one of the designers last May 1,.I can't commit to her anymore since I'm very busy. Love her stuff but I feel I have to let go for now. I will stick to 4 designers only, 3 of which are from The Digichick and Christy. With this I can concentrate more on the things I'm doing and not sacrifice the commitment I made to them. I've seen a lot of CT openings recently, some of them are amazing, sometimes I'm tempted to apply, if there's a designer that I really like, I might try. Do I make sense? :D hehehe... I also quit as a Design Team member on one of the scrap sites, I talked to the owner about it. If only I'm not busy, I would really really love being on a Design Team and hosting. At first, I was soo excited, but when I started with my new venture, I felt like my time is not enough since most of the team members are on the other side of the world.

On Rein, she's getting bigger and I am loving everything about her. She's such a happy and cheerful soul. There's so many new things about her and I just love being with her. Almost everyday we go to the Park, she would play and just mingle with the other kids. She enjoys it so much and I wouldn't trade being with her for anything else.

Thanks to all who wished me luck on my new endeavor. And to my sisterettes, inspite of a long distance relationship/friendship you never fail to communicate and give your support. And, of course, to my hubby. I will keep you posted on this.

I haven't updated my blog again. Holy week just passed and I've been very busy with something other than digital scrapbooking. I paused for a while during the holy week, though I created a few for my CTs. I always wanted to start this thing that I'm doing right now, it's just that i get so busy with Scrapbooking and didn't pay much attention to it. I realized that time is running out and I have to do this now or else I won't be able to learn and do it.

I told hubby that I can do this new thing and scrapbooking at night. Need to start somewhere :D Got my paycheck again and I can get the Chanel bag that I wanted to buy last month or so. BUT, I don't have the courage to buy it. It's like I'm almost close to buying the bag but end up putting it back and think all over again since I'm eyeing for something more useful that I will be doing in the next couple of months.

Rein is more active now. I spent most of my time teaching her and she's becoming more demanding now. I am also coordinating something for her activities.

On the Digiscrappin' world, been really inactive last week. I'll try to catch up with LOs for my CTs. I've seen some openings for CT but I lean towards girlie kits for Rein. Feebee is one of the designers that got me. Awesome girlie-kit and 2 more. I think I'll stop accepting CT invitations for now, since I will be busy doing something else, something more important.

Got an email from Feebee Jardine {Fabulous Designer at The Digichick and Scrapboxx} last night. I was clueless since I didn't get her first email, got some problems with Yahoo and Hotmail. Her email's subject was "It's a Secret". When I opened it I was really shocked that I'm a FEEBEE GIRL. Yep!!! I AM.

There were some problems with my Yahoo mail, but now it's ok. I got the confirmation to join her Creative Team. I was deeply touched by her email.

Updates Galore...

I just can't believe that Katharine had the second lowest number of votes. I thought that the bottom three would be Lisa, Ace and Bucky. I was in awe when her name was called, hubby was shocked too. Out of 10 performers last night, Katharine was one of the best, most of the songs that they sang were not so appealing.

On The Amazing Race, I'm not so happy with the ones who were eliminated. On the latest episode, they went from Germany to Italy, OMG! I would love to go there and was telling hubby how I love the place, everything about Italy. And of course, I would love to go to Milan and shop to death.

We had lunch at Yen's house. She cooked Pinakbet {Veggies pinoy style}. I just love it. I think I had more than enough. I asked her if she could cook it again next week, loved it sooo much. We did a lot of chatting while the kids were playing. Her son was a bit under the weather. We left at 5PM and went back to our place. Weather is changing, it was soo cold outside.

It's almost Friday, whew! Thank God it's Friday. We have no plans yet for the weekend, but I really, really want to spend it in a park or mall. Cherry Blossoms are starting to show.

What else? I still have colds, now my throat is kinda infected too. It's been 2 weeks now with no development even with meds.

Have to sleep now, it's been a busy day for me. I wanted to do a layout but I'm so tired and my creative juice just slept away. BTW, I joined Laura Alpuche's Sketch Challenge which can be found in her blog. It was a perfect time for another LO for Sarah Jones' newest kit.

Out of the Loop again....

Haven't updated my blog, We are all recuperating, Got sick last Saturday, really don't know what's happening to us or if it's the weather that is making us sick. Rein is back to normal but still has colds. Archie and I felt something unusual since Friday night. I still have colds, but I'm taking meds already. Hopefully, this thing will pass as soon as possible. It's hard to get sick especially now, no one will take care of Rein when Archie goes to the office.

We Visited Rein's Pedia yesterday to make sure that she's not infected with my colds, so I asked for meds incase she gets it. I also told him {Rein's Pedia} about what happened to Rein and that we went to his clinic but it was closed. He was out of the country for a vacation.

Weather yesterday was not soo cold. Thank God, Rein was able to play outside. And she didn't want to go home.

What's new with me? Hmmm... nothing. Same old stuff. Busy with Rein and also doing some LOs and hopefully everything's back to normal with us.

April is coming real soon. The next thing I know, it's Christmas again. Whew! Can't wait.

Rein's Health Condition

Last Thursday, at around 1 a.m., Rein vomited and we thought that it was just because she ate a lot and did not digest the food properly. But when it happened again and again, we knew something was wrong. She vomited around 8 times until 7 a.m. We couldn't sleep and the light was kept on which is unsual. We were checking her temperature as well. We decided to bring her to the doctor near our place early that morning. She was given some "supository" meds for nausea and we were told that it's Gastroenteritis {Stomach flu} which is a common childhood illness here in Japan during this time of the year. Most infants and toddlers have at least one or two bouts of it during the transition from Winter to Spring. It is a mild illness caused by a viral infection and clears up without the need for medical treatment. In babies and young children, it can be more dangerous because they become dehydrated more easily. So we were advise to give her more water and "Pocari Sweat" drink to avoid dehyration. When we came home, she still vomited about 3 to 4 times that afternoon. In the evening, the vomiting continued so we went back to the doctor last Friday. We planned to go to her Pediatrician but was surprised to find that the clinic was closed probably for vacation. So we went back to the clinic near our place and she was given another supository meds and for sneezing. She was showing signs of cold and I might have infected her since I've had it and was taking meds already.

Last Friday, we were not satisfied with the doctor that we visited so we decided to bring her to Metropolitan Bokutoh Hospital. We proceeded to the Emergency Room already. We waited for her turn and finally a good pediatrician was there. Rein was so restless that day, I was so worried about the Rubella shot that might have affected her. I read about that horrible story about vaccines. The doctor advised us to leave the room since they will perform some blood tests and they will put the IV. She was crying the whole time and was calling me and her Papa. I tried to check on her but the doctor won't let me. Tears started to flow and I just cried in the waiting area. Finally, they called us in and Rein was so traumatized when she was left with the doctor and nurses. She was diagnozed with Hypoglycemia {Low Sugar} and if left untreated she might have been fully dehyrated. So the IV with Glucose was put on her and we stayed in the hospital for more than 3 hours. Her blood sugar was checked again after she finished and it was 78. Thank God, it's normal already. Her blood test turned out ok.

We were advised to return the next day and to continue the meds. Her condition was more stable. We kept on monitoring her fever and it slowly turned to normal.

Yesterday, we went back for another check-up and the doctor said she's ok and we asked again where she got it. And he said it's everywhere since the weather is changing from Winter to Spring. I was also checking on the food she took and places we've been. Although we clean the house regularly, its not a guarantee. I was so OC when it comes to Rein. Thank God, she's now recuperating. The vomiting stopped already, now onto diarrhea, which is the normal process for this illness.

Hubby got sick also last night, he went to the john more than 5 times. He got unexplainable headache, while I still was not feeling well due to my cold. We both vomited around midnight. Finally, we felt better the next morning.

Rein is almost back to normal, we already cleaned the house and her toys, did the laundry.

Thank God. We are all ok.

Hopefully!!! hehehe... This was THE most stressful week for me. I almost burst into tears when I called hubby about Rein. She still has this Separation Anxiety thingy which I think I complained about weeks ago. Still, she doesn't want to be left alone in the sofa. I still bring her to the bathroom if I need to pee. She stands on top of the computer table so I could do some commenting on scrap sites. I can't concentrate on scrapbooking. I haven't done anything new for my CT and gave up one CT offer. Too bad for me, I love her design but I don't think I can handle it right now, with Rein asking for too much attention. Thank God hubby's here to help in cleaning the house. Whew! I vent too much lately. Hopefully, this will be a good week for us.

My take:
Ohh I missed this question. This was my favorite question during the job interview. My greatest acomplishment in the last 10 years was being able to finish college in a very stressful environment. My dad passed away on my last semester of college and my BF broke up with me a few months after my dad died. I got a job before graduation day. Being able to work with high-caliber and prominent people, I was offered to take the MBA. Moved from Sales and Marketing to IT Department and traveled the country with my officemates, fully paid by the company. My single life was full of fun and I really had a great time when I look back at it.

Got married at the age of 26. Despite a very promising career, I joined my husband who's job is usually outside the Philippines. It was like a 3 year honeymoon in Bangkok and we were trying to get pregnant on the 2nd year.

It was 2004 when I finally got pregnant. Gave birth last January. I have the opportunity to stay at home with my daughter. I love to see her grow each day, and do a journal of every milestone.

Amazing Race and American Idol

We are loaded with shows to watch.

Amazing Race started last Tuesday and I was able to download it over the net since it isn't shown here. We watched it last night. I can't say who's my favorite right now but I'm glad that the ones that I don't like were the first to be eliminated.

American Idol has gone through the top 12, thankfully it is shown here on FOX Channel although the decision for the first 2 girls and 2 boys who will be eliminated is scheduled to air on Saturday. Got no choice but to download it again, I can't wait till Saturday for the result. There are 4 fantastic girls and 4 boys that I love to win. Their names are Ace, Taylor, Chris and Jose for the boys. The girls are Paris, Ayla, Katharine and Lisa.

Weather is changing. This morning it was sunny, now it's not. Hopefully on Sunday the weather is good since we will be watching the World Baseball Classic.

Separation Anxiety

My toddler is suffering from severe Separation Anxiety since Monday. She's not like that before. I noticed yesterday that everytime I leave her to go to the bathroom or do my household chores, she would always want to be carried. If not, she'll cry out loud and when she cries the whole world knows . My next door neighbor would check on me on the veranda, probably wondering what I'm doing with her since there are some cases of Moms hurting, even killing, their own babies here in Japan.

I called my mom and told her about it and she said that's what I did when I was a toddler. It's a sort of karma. hehehe I can't do my things, she doesn't want me to leave, she just wants me to stay on the sofa or bed, read and watch all day. Don't get me wrong, I carried her everytime I cook, she joins me in the bathroom, we even take a shower together. I am loving the attachment that she's been showing. It's just that it's so intense. I know in time she will be able to outgrow it. I have read about the tips and tricks to mellow down this phase.

Trip to Chiba

Yesterday we went to Chiba to visit my relatives. Chiba is about 45 minutes ride via rapid train. They fetched us at the station. My cousin from Manila arrived last Friday so it was a get-together with my 2 aunties and relatives. My cousin loves to cook and when we got there she prepared Sinigang na Baka and Mechado, both are Filipino dishes. She cooks well. The whole day was filled with chit-chatting and lots of eating. Rein was busy mingling with her 2 cousins {both boys}. They had so much planned for the day and the next day, they wanted us to sleepover but we just can't.

Around 9pm we dined at a Ramen House, the best in their place. It was yummy but I still prefer the one that we have here in Tokyo. We left a bit late, Rein was sleeping already. One of my cousins dropped us off in our place. Rein woke up and I gave her dinner. Hubby was tired too, they slept before midnight.

As for me, well, I scrapped until 5 am. Yep! I got 2 LOs for Bella Gypsy and posted it at the following sites TDC, SBB and Scrapgirls.

Weekend foodtrip

Weekend is the only time for our family to bond more. Last Saturday we had brunch at Shakey's Pizza Parlor {Hubby's favorite}. They offer an all-you-can-eat Salad, Pasta, Mojos and Pizza buffet for only JPY960 each and they have THE most delectable food. We arrived at around 12 and left past 2pm. Rein was sleeping when we were having our brunch and woke up with poop in her nappy. We had to go to the mall across the street to change her diapers. After that we decided to go to Sunstreet where I bought some food at the grocery while Rein played with her Papa. We rented several DVDs at Tsutaya, I think we got 4. Hubby finally watched the latest (and last) installment of the Star Wars epic.

Yesterday, we went to Tokyo Dome and finally bought tickets for the inaugural World Baseball Classic. We were hoping to see the annual MLB All-Stars battling the Japan All-Stars but due to this new competition (dubbed as the World Cup of Baseball) they did not hold that exhibition tournament. We will be watching the final game for Pool A featuring Japan vs. Korea. At first I was hesitant to join hubby since I really would like to see the MLB players on my 1st live baseball game but decided to go in the end since it may be a while before that happens. We had an early dinner at Akihabara where the sumptuous Star Doner Kebab is located. It's soo yummy!!! We had 3 beef kebabs, each!! It's a bit pricey compared to Bangkok where one can buy a kebab for only 60 Baht. Here it's 500 Yen for a regular sized kebab and I can definitely say that even though it is 4 times more expensive than the one in Bangkok, it is 8 times more delicious. It was worth it. We then watched Bewitched starring Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell. We haven’t been to the movie house since Rein arrived, got a lot of cathing up to do.

V-day Celeb

We celebrated V-day at Bella Bella, an Italian Restaurant. Their lasagna is to die for, it's so yummy and has Panceta on it. We also love the carbonara and foccacia bread with cheese. I planned to celebrate it at Tokyo Dome but since it's a weekday we opted for some place near our home. We left a little early so Rein could play while we wait for Papa to arrive. While waiting for him, we bought our gifts at Eddie Bauer, one from me and one from Rein. Hubby was surprised when he saw the gift, I got mine when I woke up in the morning, he didn't want me to wake up but I told him that I need to do my laundry. I found his li'l something for me on the computer table. So sweet of him!

What I miss about V-day is going to a concert. When I was still single, V-day is one of my most awaited event of the year. I could go to 3 concerts like feb 12-14 and still crave for more. Mostly foreign concerts but I was able to watch some local artists/bands.

Whew! I can't go to bed right now, I have to wait for my laundry. :(

Thai food dinner

Yesterday, I prepared 3 dishes of Thai food: Pork Belly with chinese kale, minced pork with holy basil and Chicken green curry. Whew! Not to mention the Pinoy style spaghetti for the 2 kiddos, Rein and Al-Al. It's quite hard to prepare Thai food, it's good that all ingredients are readily available in some Asian stores. It was our first time to host a dinner in Tokyo. I couldn't imagine hosting for more than 10 people with limited space.

Hubby likes the minced pork, of course, he loved it... he's my husband. Anyways, we had so much fun when we were having dinner. Yen and her son came late afternoon and I still had 1 dish left to cook so we couldn't talk so much. Rein had a good time with Al-Al and she was following him all the time. Both of them slept around 10PM. We were chit-chatting while watching news in Filipino and I forgot to serve the dessert.

I learned to cook Thai food when we lived in Thailand for almost 3 years and through some experiments from other friends. But, I still miss the authentic Thai food.

Steelers won the Superbowl

Hubby's happy that his team won the Superbowl. I don't have a favorite team but I wanted the Seahawks to win since this is their debut in the Superbowl. We weren't able to watch the game live since Gaora sports does not have the rights to the live broadcast. They are scheduled to show it on Saturday afternoon. I bet hubby would have taken the morning off from work if they showed it live. He normally does this every Superbowl Sunday.

This is the last season of "The Bus" Jerome Bettis, one of hubby's favorite RBs. He's the reason why hubby likes the Steelers. He said this guy is the real deal. He was amazed by The Bus' brut strength, able to break multiple tackles most of the time, his asthma notwithstanding! A future Hall of Famer indeed.

On the defensive side of things, hubby likes Troy Polamalu. He's a very hard working Safety, and talk about that big hair :) He's like a hyperactive kid once the offense snaps the football. He indeed is a big factor in the Steel curtain defense.

Oh well, I have about a month and a half of undivided attention from hubby before he is again taken away from me by the world of Sports ;) F1 season starts mid-March and then MLB by April, then the Asian 9-ball tour, then the World Cup, then the World Pool championships, then back to the NFL.....hehehe good thing he's not much into the NBA.

As for me, I'm continuously improving on my digiscrapping and am planning to start reading hubby's Investment education stuff. He said it's not much Math anyway so better give it a try...

Rein's pedia appointment & first visit to the dentist

We visited Rein's pedia yesterday for her Measles vaccine. And also to check her skin since we noticed some rashes on her legs. Her back had some red spots and we didn't know yet if it's an allergy or chicken pox. I'm soo happy that her pedia is really good in english and he doesn't have any problems explaining things to me. He's very accomodating and would entertain any questions I have. I remember asking him about a toothbrush brand and a derma doctor for my hubby's skin problem. Even if my questions can be answered by common sense, he would still answer them. And every time I call him and asked some questions, I don't have to give him the details of who I am, he knows us already. Anyways, Rein was given the shot and some meds for the insect bite. Thank God, it's not chicken pox. She doesn't have the vaccine yet for that.

After her pedia visit, we had lunch near the place for her dentist appointment{HOKENJO} and came back before 2PM. People there knew that we couldn't speak nor write Japanese. So I asked the Manager at the 2nd floor if she could help us translate and answer all the questions since all forms are written in Japanese. She was soo helpful and stayed with us until Rein's check-up and she was explaining to me what the doctor was saying. I couldn't thank her enough. She told me to call her in the office if i need some help with regard to government papers.

Rein has some stain on her right tooth. They also taught me how to brush her teeth and to buy an extra toothbrush so she could hold on to it. I also asked them to use sealants for protection against plaque. It's not covered by our insurance so I paid 640 yen. Rein was crying the whole time coz she was sleepy.

This is quite long already, hehehe...But wait, I forgot to mention that we had a wonderful winter Friday night with Earth, Wind & Fire! We were surprised to see them about to perform on a Sports channel of all places. There was this Ice Skating show where the skaters were dancing to the tune of live EWF music. They played most of the songs we love: Reasons, Boogie Wonderland, September, That's the way of the world, etc. We won't get tired of listening to EWF. We're really hoping to see them live in concert here in Tokyo!! It was a blast!!!

We attended Aidan's Birthday last Sunday. I met Aidan's Mom through N@W. May {another N@W} and her family came. Before reaching their door, we smelled the yummy food that she's cooking. Rein was so happy coz she got a playmate again although they don't like the same game. Rein managed to mingle and play a little with him. She was happy seeing sooo many toys in Aidan's room. She had a blast.

It's a small world after all... It's a small world after all. I'm singing this song coz it was indeed a small world for Archie and his high school classmate in Don Bosco Makati. After years of not seeing each other, they met during Aidan's Birthday. He was Aban's {Karen's hubby} former officemate. They were chit-chatting the whole time.

We were sooo full that time. Her spaghetti, lumpiang prito were all delicious, not to mention her Leche Flan.

I'd like to thank Karen and her family for attending Rein's Bday in Manila. They were leaving the next day but took time to drop by.

Chinese New Year {Kung Hei Fat Choi!}

Chinese New Year is the longest and most important celebration in the Chinese calendar. The Chinese year 4704 begins on Jan. 29, 2006.

Chinese months are reckoned by the lunar calendar, with each month beginning on the darkest day. New Year festivities traditionally start on the first day of the month and continue until the fifteenth, when the moon is brightest. In China, people may take weeks of holiday from work to prepare for and celebrate the New Year.

A Dog Year
Legend has it that in ancient times, Buddha asked all the animals to meet him on Chinese New Year. Twelve came, and Buddha named a year after each one. He announced that the people born in each animal's year would have some of that animal's personality. Those born in dog years tend to be loyal, kind, and generous. They will work to right wrongs and are able to keep secrets. Bill Clinton, Shirley MacLain, Benjamin Franklin, and Jane Goodall were all born in the year of the dog.

Fireworks and Family Feasts
At Chinese New Year celebrations people wear red clothes, decorate with poems on red paper, and give children "lucky money" in red envelopes. Red symbolizes fire, which according to legend can drive away bad luck. The fireworks that shower the festivities are rooted in a similar ancient custom. Long ago, people in China lit bamboo stalks, believing that the crackling flames would frighten evil spirits.

In China, the New Year is a time of family reunion. Family members gather at each other's homes for visits and shared meals, most significantly a feast on New Year's Eve. In the United States, however, many early Chinese immigrants arrived without their families, and found a sense of community through neighborhood associations instead. Today, many Chinese-American neighborhood associations host banquets and other New Year events.

Ebi {Shrimp} Fillet is BACK

Wow! I'm so glad that McDonald's brought back the Ebi Fillet. I really love it so much but it was gone last December to give way to a new product or trial. When it was offered months back, I always had it once a week. Rein and I were done with our grocery and play time at the nearest strip mall and passed by at McDonald's and saw it. Without further ado, I ordered and had a very nice afternoon snack, of course with my li'l one.

Hubby doesn't want to taste it. He said it was kinda weird to have shrimp on a burger. He's missing a lot.

I'm planning to have it again anytime this week.

10 Days of Fun-filled Vacation in Manila

Jan. 4
Our flight was delayed due to Hydraulic Leak. We were behind our schedule for about 45 mins. Finally, we arrived in Manila past 12 midnight and we thought that our cellphone was working but it was not. So I asked hubby to ask someone if we could borrow his cellphone and use our sim card so we could make a call to my in-laws. We got home at around 2 am. On our way home we bought some food at Jollibee Shell at South Super Hi-way. Had a very late dinner and slept past 4am. When Rein saw her grandparents and auntie she was so quiet and just looked at them. After a few minutes when we got home, they carried her and she liked it and was playing with Hello Kitty dressed in a Santa Costume.

Jan. 5
Went to Duty Free to buy some chocolates for our family and prizes for Rein's Bday. Dined at "Little Quiapo” in BF Paranaque. Then proceeded to Alabang to have my hair done. I was also looking for Rein's shoes since most shoes available in Tokyo are for winter. While we were having our hair done, Rein was playing with her grandparents. It took us 2 hours to finish everything but she didn't cry the whole time she was with her grannies.

Jan. 6
A lot of things happened on our way to Manila. We had an ocular inspection at the Ramon Magsaysay in Roxas Blvd., had lunch at Emerald Chinese Restaurant and was stopped by a police for a violation (beating the red light). We were all busy trying to locate the place and we didn't notice the stop signal. We were talking to these two guys and the rest is history. Finally, we found Jollibee and discussed how we wanted the food and the time of delivery to RMH. We also made the 50% DP and got the toy freebies which we planned to include on the prizes. We went straight to Robinson's to buy gifts for my Sisterettes’ kiddos. I intended to buy stuff in Tokyo but all clothes are for winter. I love Gingersnaps and I bought all the gifts there. It was really a hectic day for us plus the thought of Rein's Birthday and the nitty-gritty of the party.

Jan. 7
Before going to Nila's House, we went to Elar's Lechon in QC for the DP and to buy some lechon for our friends. It's been a long time since we last see each other and I'm very grateful that we had the chance to mingle, update and chikka to the max. Our hubbys were outside (not playing poker) and girls were inside with the kids doing some updates and exchanging gifts. We left before 6pm to pick-up my MIL and dropped by at ATC to buy something for Rein. Last minute shopping for Rein's Big Day.

Jan. 8
I Woke up a bit early, very excited to take pictures of our li'l princess. I always wanted a Princess theme but decided against it since she can't enjoy being a princess and Elmo has a special place in her heart (Elmo was the first character that made her smile). Everything was set for the party and we left a bit early to check the place and see what's going on. I will make a separate email about her Birthday kwento and Suppliers’ ratings.

Jan. 9
Rein got sick since last night. I thought she was just tired but when we checked her temperature around 6am it was still 38.4. Archie rushed to Mercury Drug to buy some meds. The whole family rested and was constantly checking her condition. It was immediately gone after 1 dose of meds although I still called her pedia at Asian Hospital to check if she can still take the HIB3 vaccine or if we have to wait until she's fully recovered.

Jan. 10
We went to Sampaloc to visit Archie's favorite Aunt. Left before 3pm and went straight to our favorite hangout when we were still dating. Rockwell is so special to us and I have vivid memories of the times we spent there. During that time, only a few people knew of the place. I bought a gift for Archie and he opened it right away. He played billiards with my brother. And Lawrence (3rd sibling) accompanied us and bought some stuff. We had dinner at Dencio's (Archie's Fav) and went home past 10pm.

Jan. 11
We had our Annual check-in at the Renaissance Hotel to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. It was so much fun now since we have Rein. People were asking if that was our 2nd honeymoon and I shrugged my shoulders and lifted my eyebrow. Times are hard and having a second baby is not our priority. Rein just turned 1 and I want to enjoy her toddlerhood.

Jan. 12
Whew! We were excited to see what breakfast buffet they have. During our stay at the Renaissance, Food has always been our top choice. My schoolmate from College still works at the said hotel and she was surprised to see our Baby. She helped us find a comfy table for our li'l one and was so helpful in attending to our needs.

Jan. 13
It was so relaxing to have a massage every week to de-stress and revitalize. I wish I could do it in Tokyo. The Spa in Alabang is a great place. The ambiance is so relaxing. They have the best masseuse and ginger tea. I still look forward to have a massage at The Spa and Lodge at Tagaytay Highlands.

A Stressful Day @ the Airport

It was THE most stressful travel day for us. We were hassled from check-in to boarding. First, our baggage reached 106+ kilos, we only had 50 kilos total allotment. We asked if they could accomodate the excess baggage since some people didn't have much to bring. But they didn't allow us and we were advised to pay 32,000++ pesos (@ $12/kilo). About the same price of a round-trip ticket to Tokyo. Worst thing was we didn't bring the cellphone. Archie called his father via a payphone and luckily he arrived back at the airport before our boarding time.

I forgot to bring the original marriage certificate for a Travel Tax discount, so I paid 1,600+. I have the photocopy but they were asking for the original one, I didn't want to argue with them about it since we were having a bad day already.

Rein pooped and was crying the whole time. And there were people who were on our flight but queued on the other NW flight since it was shorter. Then one of the staff put them in front of us that made us angry and hubby couldn't take it anymore and he talked to that person. And there went the NAIA personnel down to the Security Guard who power tripped. Some won't even help you even if you were carrying a baby and would bang on your car to vacate the temporary parking slot even if he saw you carrying a heavy baggage. Yan ang Pinoy!

Then upon arriving at Tokyo the weather was terrible. It was raining like there was a storm and it was very cold. Luckily, our aunt picked us up from the airport. If not we may all have gotten sick.

OMG! This will be my last post for 2005. Well what can I say about 2005. It was indeed a wonderful year for us. With the arrival of our Li'l Princess, it was surely THE most unforgettable year. Being a first time Mom in a foreign non-english country, it wasn't a bumpy ride at all and I had a good time being a SaHm. I miss Bangkok as always and would like to come back there with Rein and hubby.

This will be the first time for both me and hubby to spend New Year's Eve away from home. We totally miss the raucous Filipino way of celebrating this event. We witnessed an hour ago the celebrations on Sydney harbour covered live by CNN. It was very nice and hubby was acting like a kid, looking out for fireworks outside our window. Unfortunately here in Tokyo, there are none. He has his own ritual of lighting fireworks for the whole family back home, this year though will be a very quiet one.

I was teaching Rein how to walk, and I can see that she really tried. She made 2 to 3 steps at 7:04 pm. I was so excited that I called her papa. She's been walking but with the help of a stroller or anything that she can hold on to. I've been teaching her how to walk without any help and luckily she did inside our room. The floor is made of "Japanese Tatami" so I didn't have to worry about her getting hurt.

With this, we celebrated it. Hubby went home with KFC Chicken and bought our favorite Godiva Belgian Dark Chocolate Ice Cream. Rein tried to lick the ice cream and I was letting her taste it as a reward. Hehehe

"Simbang Gabi" A Filipino Tradition

Simbang Gabi or Midnight Mass started last December 16. It has been a Filipino tradition to attend the pre-dawn mass for nine days ("novena") before the birth of Christ. It is believed that if you complete the mass, your wish will be granted. Not really sure if it's a hoax. I haven't done a nine days straight "simbang gabi" in my entire life. But still my wishes came true. Our church had the most beautiful lanterns. Since I studied in a Catholic School, there is a church just beside it. December was considered to be the busiest time in School. Contests in lantern making was one of the big events.

In the church, choirs were singing christmas songs and the atmosphere was so inviting. There were people selling "bibingka" (rice cake) and puto-bumbong with hot tea. I miss those things, it's good that I can buy bibingka at Shell Magallanes when we get to Manila.

Christmas in the Philippines is extra special.

The Linz Family Finally Made It

It was a heart stopping finale for the Amazing Race Family Edition. Our bets were The Linzes and the Bransens. It was the first time that our pick from the start won the race. They deserved to win and I really admired the camaraderie of these siblings, not to mention the cuteness of Alex. They never quarreled during the race and it was like they were just having fun. They did not point fingers or blamed a family member if a wrong decision was made. It was really a team effort.

The ending was very creative. We had no clue that the North & Central America puzzle road block was the last hurdle leading to the finish. Nick Linz battled Wally Bransen in one of the most heart pounding, winner-take-all challenge ever in the Amazing Race.

Thanks to Torrentspy and especially to the person who uploaded it. We wouldn't be able to watch it if not for them. We look forward to AR 9 on February '06. It'll sure be another winner.

The 12 days of Christmas starts today. In my younger years this was the start of our "Munito-Munita" {exchange gift for something blue, soft, kikay, weird, sweet, etc. Blue Magic was our favorite place to buy stuff for exchange gift as they had a lot.

This time, I'll do it with Rein but something different. I'll give her something starting today until the 25th. Exciting isn't? Have to tell hubby to join me. {For Jan's Color Challenge}

Last Saturday we went to Shinjuku and bought some clothes for Rein at Mitsukoshi. She was irritated when we were trying some clothes on her, I don't know if she doesn't like to shop but I guess she didn't like the idea of putting so much clothes on her. Before I feed her at the 2nd floor, we let her walk with the stroller. She just loved it and wouldn't stop unless there are people watching and smiling at her.

This is one of the few personalized Christmas cards I've created for family and friends. Really had a hard time taking shots of her, as she wants to remove her cap all the time.

My family and friends have been asking what I really want for Christmas and I would say: anything. Hubby's full of surprises BUT I don't think I'll find another Louis Vuitton wallet or Gucci bag hidden in his closet. *wink*

Here is my list.

1. I'm more interested in online shopping for digital scrapbook kits. I've seen a lot of kits at Digichick, DDE, Shabby Shoppe, Scrap Girls, SBB, Scrapartist, CG Essentials, Modscraps, 2peas and a lot MORE.

2. Books for Digital Scrapper.

3. Whole day Massage. I can only get this when we get to Manila as the price of massage here is soo expensive from 4,000 Yen to 60,000. They charge for 15 mins to 60 mins.

4. Hair Spa. I want my hair done. Since we got here last May, I still got this long layered-hair style. I haven't done anything for my hair except for the hot oil which I do on my own.

5. Refill of my Shu Uemura Foundation. 4 to 5 more use then it's done.

6. Perfume. I love Perfumes. Although I still have some unused bottles, I can't resist on having a new one. I've seen a few of my favorites.

7. Foot Spa. A must! My feet deserve a relaxing treat. It looks tired.

8. Burberry Messenger Bag.

10. Pressure Cooker. I need to find a replacement since the one that I have is no longer useable.

These are just a few things that I would love to get for Christmas. GC is accepted for Spa, just kidding. Hubby's not asking me what I want for Christmas incase he wonders here is the list :D

Ipod Nano 2 Ipod Nono

I had a nite-out with Rein in lieu of her 11 months celebration yesterday. It should have been the three of us but hubby had a party to attend. We planned to go to Shibuya but Rein slept in the afternoon around 3pm and woke up past 5. I decided to go somewhere near our place. I already bought her Santa Costume at Toys R Us and some chips. Had a light snack at McDonald's and then shopped around. I decided to have dinner at Denny's. They served sumptuous shrimp and broccoli salad with tartar sauce, pasta with lots of mushrooms and a chocolate ice cream which is sooo yummy. Anyways, I end up ordering a pasta with eggplant, "yuck!" for some people, but it tasted good. That was my first time to have pasta with eggplant.

Hubby texted me and he had quite a story to tell. I told him to discus it with me when he gets home. He fetched us at the mall where Rein was practicing walking with her stroller.

He told me this is what happened...

We had our group's end-of-year party last night at a restaurant near Tamachi JR station. The food was okay, we were served with crabs, sushi, shrimp and squid. But the best part was the ham! I was surprised that they served meat, a good one at that. And as always, in a Japanese after work dinner there was a lot of booze.

The main event of the evening was not the speeches that several people made about jobs well done, etc. but a Bingo game! Sounds corny? The first prize was an ipod Nano!! Yup, the ultra thin version of AAPL's (ooopppsss...that's Apple Computers for the uninitiated) latest gizmo. I know that the ipod video would have been better but the manager was a bit stingy.

The game started and quickly a couple of people already had "puro" as we call it in Manila. They needed only one number to win. They were asked to stand to heighten the excitement for both nearly winners and nearly losers. Knowing my luck with such games, I didn't even bother getting excited. But after a few more numbers were called, I suddenly found myself standing as well. By this time there were about 10 people waiting for their respective lucky number.

I needed "O 62" to win and it did not register right away when the number was called. Them I remeber telling myself "say BINGO, BINGO" and so I did. People initially clapped their hands but then realized that a Gaijin had won. Knowing Japanese patriotism, I sensed that they were not genuinely pleased by the result. But then another person shouted BINGO. It was the group's manager and he said our team leader's card also won! Then there were cat-calls and people saying the result was rigged..hahaha.

Our team leader, sensing that his win was controversial, handed me the ipod. But the rule is that in case of a tie, the winner will be decided by a rock-paper-scissors challenge. The people urged him to challenge me and I gamely obliged. The bad news was that I am not really the best bato-bato-piks player in the world. In fact my odds of winning against my wife is 1/5. But what the heck, I'm happy just being a winner. So as luck would have it, or the lack of it, I lost and our team leader got the prize.
